Dog Training – the Cabral Way

Dog Training- a different way…

Black Belt Dog Training is based on the Zen philosophy of the martial arts. Robert, a martial art master instructor with more than 25 years of experience will guide you and to the best training and relationship with your dog.

Training is broken down into a clear format that can be started at any time from puppy to adult, with a new dog or one you’ve lived with for years.  You and your dog will learn together and through this training will form a bond that is unsurpassed by any other training methods.

Every aspect is covered in this program including structure, obedience, distractions and reinforcement.  No matter what your level of experience, you will learn the proper technique to train your dog and relate to him in a constructive and beneficial way.  This unique program was developed by Robert and has been effective in even the most stubborn dogs.

In order to achieve the best results, Robert’s method of dog training is broken down into a unique format:

  1.  The Assessment, Orientation, Evaluation:  During this initial session Robert works with the dog and human to assess the relationship, the dog’s drives and training ability and then guides you with the proper training for your specific situation.  Some people only need this phase in order to put them onto the right track.  If you have a few questions or are concerned about a specific issue with your dog’s training, more than likely it will be addressed in the initial session.
  2. The Intensive:  Rather than meeting once a week for 10 weeks, Robert’s unique method condenses the training into an intensive format which exposes both the human and the dog to full immersion.  This program of dog training works better because less is left to chance.  If you meet once a week, by the time you meet for your next session 7 days has passed and any mistake will have been reinforced 100+ times.  These mistakes, once hard-wired, are very difficult to “undo” in the dog’s mind.  Rather than creating a system of potential failure, Robert’s method will reinforce the correct way over the Intensive Phase of training.
  3. The Maintenance:  Once the dog and his person have a clear understanding of the techniques, the relationship and the ability to clearly communicate with each other, much of the work is done (at least the hard part).  A training regimen is now set up and most training progresses without much need for help.  However, occasional reinforcements and coaching keeps the training moving along and helps right any possible mistakes that might arise.  During the Maintenance Phase, Robert meets with you to review, tweak, adjust and modify your training to keep you on your path.  Much like the maintenance phase after a diet, this Maintenance keeps the training working day in and day out.  How often you opt to schedule maintenance classes / training is purely up to you.  Some people opt for monthly trainings, some prefer to meet a few times a year.  You will have a better idea of what Robert recommends after completing the Intensive Program.

Every dog deserves a chance at a happy life. Through Robert’s system of dog training even “problem dogs” can become loving companions and enjoy a happy life.
