Robert stumbled into dog training through his rescue work with some otherwise "troubled dogs." It is immediately evident that Robert loves dogs, but most importantly, he understands them. In fact, when he’s not training dogs, he spends most of his time rescuing them. Robert has an amazing gift for communicating with dogs. He forms and instant bond and works from there. His methods have been proven on the toughest subjects, the ones other trainers won’t approach or have given up on. He's paid his dues training the "untrainable." Robert has put his techniques to the test in the toughest places, municipal animal shelters. The dogs who end up in shelters and are considered aggressive or troubled, are his favorites. "I can tell you stories of misunderstood dogs that almost ended up dead in the shelter. They're now living happy, loving lives because I worked with them. When my phone rings, its usually because the other training methods didn't work."
Robert is very active in rescue and donates much of his time and resources to building a better world for animals. His charity BOUND ANGELS educates, rescues and builds media campaigns to heighten awareness of the forgotten and the abandoned. Robert works with various rescues evaluating, training and consulting.
His philosophy on training dogs is very unique, it's less about discipline and more about understanding. As a strategist, Robert first teaches to build a relationship with the dog, then to use training techniques that are fair and clear to the dog. The Black Belt Training techniques are easy for a dog to understand and practical to apply. Robert’s ability to teach is surpassed only by his understanding of that which troubles the dog and then bridging that gap between human and canine.
When asked, why he trains dogs, his answer is simple: "I train dogs because I love dogs.
